What are filters?
Filters are process equipment for solid-liquid separation of suspensions or for solid-gaseous separation of laden raw gas with the aid of a filter medium. The purified liquid is called filtrate and the purified gas is called clean gas. The required pressure difference is realized by applying pressure on the suspension gas side or by applying vacuum on the filtrate or clean gas side.
Which filtration principles are there?
The main type of filtration principles are:
- Surface filtration (before beginning of cake filtration and in cross-flow filtration)
- Cake filtration through a building up filter cake
- Depth filtration in porous filter media
