Technology with a second life

As a mechanical technician, René Ruisch works daily on pre-owned process machines that arrive at Foeth. In 2019, he joined Foeth through recruitment agency Faam. Since then, he has been doing what he enjoys most: working on machines, solving problems and making sure equipment can function properly again.

Working on different machines

For René, working on machines is more than just a job. “Working on machines is my passion. I enjoy the challenge of solving problems with machines.”

At Foeth, he mainly works on mixers, dryers and agitators. Because many different types of machines come in, his work remains varied and technically challenging.

“Working on different types of machines keeps my job challenging.”

Getting old machines working properly again

For René, the biggest challenge lies in getting pre-owned machines working properly again. Sometimes these are machines that clearly show signs of use, but still have a lot of technical potential.

He looks at what is needed to bring a machine back into the best possible condition. “Trying to bring an old machine that does not look good back to near-new condition is the biggest challenge for me.”

Collaboration in the workshop also plays an important role. The atmosphere is good, and there is clear consultation and communication.

Proud of a second life

René is proud of most of the machines he has worked on. For him, the best part of technology at Foeth is seeing a machine leave for a customer in good working condition.

It also gives him the feeling that he is contributing to something sustainable. By refurbishing pre-owned machines, they get a second life and can be used again.

His advice to someone considering applying at Foeth: “You can learn a lot here and gain valuable experience if you are open to it.”
