Krauss Maffei: From the beginnings to Krauss Maffei Wegmann
Krauss Maffei was founded in 1931 through the merger of the German companies J. A. Maffei (founded in 1838) and Krauss & Co. (1860), both of which were significant locomotive manufacturers in Germany. The group started to engage in the military sector and produced armored vehicles and weapons, such as the division for defense: Krauss Maffei Defense Technology. In 1999, they merged with Wegmann & Co. to establish Krauss Maffei Wegmann GmbH.
In 1957, they entered the field of plastic injection molding. Starting in 1986, several companies specializing in injection and extrusion molds were integrated into the company, which eventually led to the formation of the operating subsidiary Krauss Maffei Technologies GmbH in 2007. The companies Netstal (injection molding) and KraussMaffei-Berstorff (polymer and rubber extrusion) are part of this merger.
Since 2019, their business units (KraussMaffei, Netstal, and KraussMaffei-Berstorff) have merged into a single brand: KraussMaffei. The company has a process engineering department where centrifuges, dryers, filters, and separators are produced, an activity carried out in collaboration with the Andritz Group.
