Vacuum Belt Filters by Pannevis

As the first company to introduce the vacuum belt filter in 1969, Pannevis enjoys an excellent reputation worldwide in the field of liquid and solid phase separation through filtration. The innovative and clever technology has revolutionized filtration processes in the fields of chemistry, pharmaceuticals, mining, metallurgy, and the environment. In 2003, Pannevis was acquired by the Finnish Larox Group and renamed Metso Outotec on June 16, 2021. At Foeth, the largest dealer of used industrial equipment in Europe, industrial customers can get the best deals on vacuum belt filters that have been tested and carefully inspected by professionals.

What are the main filter classes of Pannevis?

Filtration is a process that allows the separation of liquid (continuous phase) from the solid substances (dispersed phase) contained in it. A Pannevis filtration device allows you to perform various operations that can be classified as follows:

  • Clarification filters: The aim of this operation is to recover a liquid with few solid particles. Sand filters, pre-filters, or plate filters under pressure are often used for this purpose.

  • Extraction filters: The aim is to recover the solid (cake) and remove it from its water. Vacuum or drum filters (under vacuum or pressure) and Nutsche filtration systems are suitable for this type of operation.

  • Safety filters: This type of filtration aims to retain impurities that may occasionally be present in a liquid considered clean. Pressure filter cartridges, bags, or plates are used for this application.

  • Coarse filters: This involves removing coarse impurities (smaller than one millimeter) present in small amounts in the liquid phase. This process can be carried out using Pannevis filter systems with cartridges or membranes.

How does a Pannevis vacuum belt filter work?

This type of Pannevis filter has one (sometimes two) continuous perforated rubber belt that supports a filter cloth. This ensemble is stretched over drums, similar to an endless belt conveyor. The drive of the head drum is done by an adjustable drive system, while the tracking drum stretches the rubber belt. Another roller system is sometimes used to tension the filter cloth and press it onto the rubber belt only in the filtration area. Chambers are located under the belt, where a vacuum is applied, which suction the liquid phase through the filter cloth.

The vacuum belt filter is particularly suitable for continuous automatic processes. They are extremely effective in cleaning and suitable for squeezing the recovered cake. You can request an expert opinion from Foeth on a specific process or another machine you are looking for here.
