Pressure vessels made of stainless steel or galvanised models are used in many plants as expansion or equalisation vessels. Their use reduces the starting frequency of connected pumps and at the same time lowers the intensity of pressure surges in the system's pipes. The pressure vessels act as an intermediate reservoir from which smaller quantities of substances - especially liquids - can be repeatedly withdrawn without the pump having to start up and deliver them separately. This reduces the amount of energy required and at the same time increases the service life of pumps and other components in your system. You will find such expansion tanks in private homes, for example in heating or solar and drinking water systems, as well as large pressure vessels with a volume of several thousand litres in all areas of industry. Most of these vessels are made of stainless steel. The corrosion- and temperature-resistant material makes them very low-maintenance and durable. However, Foeth also always has pressure tanks made of stainless steel, mild steel or glass on offer for you.
Stainless steel pressure vessels with and without diaphragm
In addition to the material, the use of a diaphragm is another important feature to distinguish between used pressure vessels. The diaphragm in particular reduces the need to repeatedly switch pumps on or off to operate the system. In diaphragm pressure boilers, the thin component is sometimes permanently installed, but usually replaceable. Pressure vessels without a diaphragm are often called air vessels. They are also suitable for compensating pressure fluctuations or for storing compressed air and separating condensate from compressed air. Because all vessels often have to reliably withstand high pressure, we check the used plant components twice for tightness and function: once when they reach our warehouse in Barneveld, the Netherlands, and later a second time before a vessel is delivered to you. This way you can always rely on first-class quality from Foeth.
