Positive displacement pumps

Variety of models: Discover various positive displacement pumps

Pumps help you move fluids through the equipment during production. The pump technology you choose depends on the type of liquid being pumped and the fluid’s viscosity. If you are looking for positive displacement pumps, Foeth can help you source the ideal pump for your production needs. Since there are numerous types of positive displacement pumps for sale, our team will help you choose the right technology. We have new and used pumps in tip-top shape for all budgets, and they have all been mechanically tested to ensure efficiency.

What is the positive displacement pump for sale?

There are two main groups of pump technology; centrifugal and positive displacement pumps. While centrifugal pumps are popular due to higher flows and efficiency with lower viscosity liquids, some types of positive displacement pumps are preferred for various applications. For instance, PD pumps are an excellent choice if you handle higher-viscosity fluids or want to operate at high pressures. These pumps are designed to ensure the pumping action is forward. Their internal design ensures fluids do not recirculate back towards the pump inlet. PD pumps function by fluid being drawn into a chamber to create a vacuum. Once the chamber is filled, the pump cycles, causing the fluid within the pump head to have a higher pressure. The fluids are released through the discharge port into the pipework.

What types of positive displacement pumps are available?

Positive displacement pumps have reciprocating or rotary designs with differing internal parts to accommodate various fluid features. Reciprocating pumps work by the repeated back-and-forth movement of a diaphragm or plunger. These movements are called reciprocation. The first piston stroke creates a vacuum, which opens an inlet valve, closes the outlet valve or draws fluid into the piston chamber. When the motion of the piston reverses, the opposite happens; the outlet valve opens, allowing the fluid in the piston to be released. Another type of positive displacement pump is rotary, which uses rotating cogs or gears to transfer fluids rather than reciprocating pumps' forward or backward motion. The rotating elements develop a liquid seal with the pump casing creating a suction pump inlet.
