Metal detectors
Various models: Discover high-quality metal detectors at Foeth
Why should manufacturers use metal detectors? Effective measures help avoid including metal or extraneous materials in finished products. Using a conveyor metal detector increases product safety and protects equipment from damage. While you can use sieves and traps to remove metal pieces, some metallic pieces can also fall off the cracks if the metal is in small pieces. With detectors, you are guaranteed to remove most of the metallic pieces. If you are looking for metal detectors for the food and pharmaceutical industries, Foeth can help you find suitable machines.

Why are industrial metal detectors used in the food industry?
Metal detection systems are useful in the food industry for consumer protection. During food processing, metallic contamination of food products is hard to prevent. Small metallic particles enter the food products during production or may already be contained in the raw materials. Failure to remove the metallic components can lead to serious health complications for consumers and expensive recalls. A conveyor metal detector is useful for detecting metallic objects in a wide range of different food types, including packaged conveyorized goods, granular materials, bulk powders and more. Metal detectors in food industries effectively protect against ferrous metals and non-ferrous metals like aluminium and stainless steel. The detectors are installed in the production process for different applications. For instance, you can use metal detectors to inspect bakery products or baked goods, check meat and sausage products, or pick out metals in fruits and vegetables before they are used to make juices.
How do industrial metal detectors work?
A metal detector machine uses a balanced, three-coil system to check for small particles of stainless steel and non-ferrous materials. The three-coil system is wound on a non-metallic frame, and passing materials between the parallel coils helps detect any small stainless steel particles. The centre coil connects to a high-frequency transmitter with receivers on either side of the transmitter coils. Since the parallel coils are identical, they receive the same signal and output voltage. When a metallic particle passes through the coils of metal detectors, the voltage changes by a few microvolts since the high-frequency field is disturbed. When the state of balance is disturbed, the output from the coils is no longer zero, leading to metal detection. For the detector to work, it also requires a metal-free zone, like rollers and supports.
