History of the Le Carbone-Lorraine Brand

The Le Carbone-Lorraine brand existed from 1937 to 2010, but has a history that dates back to 1891. Initially, the company produced engines, dynamos, and lamps, and gained increasing recognition in the first half of the 20th century as a manufacturer of carbon elements for electric lighting and motors.

From the 1980s onwards, Le Carbone-Lorraine significantly expanded its product portfolio and focused on specialized equipment that better met the needs of customers. A series of acquisitions starting in 1985 resulted in the company becoming, for example, the second-largest global market for industrial electrical fuses and later the leading manufacturer of brushes for electric motors.

Types of Equipment Manufactured by Le Carbone-Lorraine/Mersen
